Azolla pinnata	Ferny Azolla
Azollaceae	A floating fern of still waters. Plants in full sun are red, those in the shade are green. Azolla sp. support a nitrogen fixing blue-green algae. In Vietnam the plants are used to release nitrogen in the paddy fields. Used in home aquariums for grazing by vegetarian fish.

		Azolla pinnata has fine rootlets on the main roots, A. filiculoides (Pacific Azolla) does not.
