Raspy Crickets. All possess a stridulatory mechanism that produces a raspy sound used in defense. All species are nocturnal, and spend the daylight in shelters they make themselves using silk they produce by their mouthparts. Desert burrowing species will sew their burrow shut during the heat of the day. |
