Myrmeleontidae

  Antlions. The dominant family of lacewings in Australia. They may be arboreal or ground dwelling. Some construct conical pits as traps for prey and lie buried at the bottom with their jaws just above the surface.  The relatively short antennae are often thickened at the tip.     [250 Aust. species]        [Wikipedia]
