Chrysopidae

  Green Lacewings. The largest family of lacewings with about 2000 named species. Mainly green and delicate, and most with clear wings. Eggs are stalked and the larva are active predators covering themselves with debris which includes the remains of their victims. Some members of this family are grown by commercial insect farms for sale as an alternative to pesticides.    [55 Aust. species]
