Oecophorinae

A very large subfamily of over 2000 species. Most are endemic and are associated with eucalyptus leaves. Eucalyptus leaves do not break down readily and are low in nutrients, however the oecophorids have adapted to utilize this vast food resource.       [2300 Aust. species]
