Stegomyia egypti - The Dengue Mosquito

 
 

Culicidae

 

A carrier of Dengue Fever. Breeds in fresh water in any artificial container close to human habitation. Eggs can withstand drying. Bites by day indoors.

Distinctively pattered in white lines. A lyre-shaped line on the sides of the thorax is a feature. Two medial lines on the thorax and the palps are half white. The proboscis is all black.

Previously known as Aedes egypti.
